WHY FRUIT ?

In the Low Income Diet and Nutrition Survey, it was suggested that homeless people have poor intakes of vitamins and minerals and are more likely to eat high-fat processed food or fast/snack foods and were less likely to eat the foods recommended for good health.

 

The key barriers faced by single and homeless families in meeting a healthy diet can include things like limited money to buy food, food being a low priority in life, drug/alcohol issues, poor dental health and other health/mental health issues and lack of knowledge about healthy eating. It is estimated that around 9,000 people sleep homeless in London every year, we aim to get the right produce out to them during their time of struggle.
